GLAUCOMA MANAGEMENT
Glaucoma Evaluation & Treatment
Glaucoma refers to a group of eye diseases that lead to progressive damage to the optic nerve, which carries visual information from the back of the eye to the brain. Early glaucoma usually has no symptoms, therefore, routine eye exams are critical in the detection and treatment of the disease.

Glaucoma is often associated with higher-than-normal pressure inside the eye, but some people with normal eye pressure will develop glaucoma. If left untreated, glaucoma initially causes loss of peripheral vision and can eventually lead to blindness.

Glaucoma cannot currently be prevented. It can usually be controlled, if it is diagnosed and treated early. Medication or surgery can slow or prevent further vision loss. However vision already lost to glaucoma cannot be restored. That is why annual dilated eye exams are recommended for people at risk for glaucoma.
Our experienced, glaucoma certified eye doctors are trained to help monitor and treat the disease for you, should that be necessary.
